We have such great opportunities available to us. For some it appears to be easy, and it seems that all their dreams come true. Becoming who you want to be, isn’t that supposed to be part of the american dream?
Sometimes becoming who you want to be is more of a fight than a victory. There are a million opposing forces, or so it seems. Much of what we struggle with is internal. Pogo said it so wisely, “We have met the enemy, and He is Us”. So now we get to the magic question: “how do I get out of my own way?”
So which do you want first, the good news, or the good news? You see, one of the things that many of us don’t think about is how fantastic it is to challenge ourself and long for something more. That’s what sets us apart from the animal world, that ability to question and expand our consciousness.
The trick is the approach we take to our own evolution. Becoming who you want to be is a proactive, ongoing process. You never will arrive, thank goodness. After all, it really is about the journey. Becoming who you want to be is a collection of experiences and the integration of our views and opinions of all those adventures in life.
“Who we are” is not something we hide away in the closet, that outfit we’re waiting to wear someday on some special occasion. “Who we are” is our response right now, in the moment. We are, in every waking minute, becoming who we want to be. We are “living the dream”.
So in becoming who you want to be, the secret is to find grace and approval for who you are right now. Those thoughts, as quickly as they pass, make an impression in our next step. Heavy thoughts have about as much momentum as a .. rock. Rocks are unfortunate anchors keeping our energy locked in the past, they do not have the energy for a next step.
Feeling good has synergy. There is an electrical charge found in feeling good about something you say or do. That charge builds, motivates, and creates. And there you have it, wha’la, there you are at your next step and you didn’t even feel the exertion. Movement becomes easier because you have that electrical momentum.
Becoming who you want to be. It’s not a goal, or a mission, it’s an everyday expression of self.
