Fast and Cheap: untapped small business marketing tactics

Small business marketing is a passion of mine! It is super fun especially when you start to see results. When a customer says “I saw you on top of Google and went to your website, then I did a search on YouTube and you came up 1st there, then I called a sign on the side of the road, that was you too, I figured i had no choice where I was going to buy… Who does your small business marketing? and you say, I do… It makes you feel good..

Getting your business or website listed on the 1st page of Google really is much easier than you think…It just takes some face time with the computer. You can get a major start in a weekend and see the results of your small business marketing online in days..

I heard a story from an acquaintance of mine last week of his efforts to get his new website listed on top of the search engines. He followed my advise and was listed on the 1st page of Google in 2 days and landed a $3400 Job as a direct result of the online small business marketing stuff he knows nothing about…

If you are looking for small business marketing ideas, in specific geographical locations, then Google Local is quick and easy way to start. This is the listing on the top of google when you search for a local listing like (Hot Tubs Minneapolis) there is a map on the left with businesses on the right. Google Local is a great website marketing strategy because, its easy, free and fast.

Google Local is also now Google Maps and shows up for many different searches the best part is that it shows up for just your regular search in plain old Google any time you include a city name. There are a few tricks I have learned over the years like how to show up in multiple cities… This is the great place to begin for online small business marketing for local areas…

Google (Pay Per Click) PPC is a another huge idea for small business marketing. Don’t let the PPC scare you because you have all the control. You can start for as little as five dollars and you have complete control of the budgets. Google is Geo targeted so Google knows the location of the persons computer that is doing the searching and you get to choose where your ads show up from Zip Code, to city, to state to country.

Google PPC allows you to write many ads and that rotate and Google tracks the views vs the clicks this is known as the click through rate. Then you know what ads are working and which are not. Then you delete the bad ones and keep trying to improve. You also set a budget anywhere from $5 per day and up or set a monthly budget lets say $300… Pay Per Click has been a huge part of my online small business marketing…

Since January of 2005 I have spent $51K advertising with Google and I have definitely had the best ROI from my website marketing efforts. As far as small business marketing goes the internet is here to stay. In fact Google is one of my favorite companies because I have spent this money and have never even talked to anyone who works for Google. I do get a Christmas card from them each year. There are way too many tips and tricks to Google PPC to go into here. Just take the time and add this to your small business marketing arsenal.
