College. It is a word that inspires awe, respect, and fear for some. Before you actually make it there, you are likely to hear stories from others about the great life experiences they had there-or the daunting challenges they faced. Experiences differ from person to person, but generally, most agree that college is a life-changing transition that opens doors and possibilities.
Preparing for college may be difficult if you don’t know what to expect. A high school student’s current academic knowledge and study habits may not be sufficient to help them pass their classes. Social situations will be different, and pressure may weigh down students who are unsure of what career path to choose.
Aspiring college students benefit greatly from college prep camps. These pre-college programs help prepare students for the transition they will need to make from high school to higher education in a comfortable environment that encourages sharing of thoughts, ideas, fears, and advice. SuperCamp, one of the leading college summer programs in the world, describes the program as a “portal to real life”. Everything a high school student needs to transition is available for their mental consumption at SuperCamp.
SuperCamp emphasizes these goals at their college prep camp: barrier-breaking, personal presentation, college skills for academic success, self-belief, motivation, and ownership attitude. Each one of these goals is essential to personal development and academic well-being. It can bridge the gap between a student’s motivation and academic success.
Students may start off as complete strangers in a common setting at a college prep camp, but that will quickly change once it becomes evident that they share similar goals with their peers. Every student wants to succeed in college and it may make a considerable difference in a student’s life to find out that their fears and concerns are not uncommon or outlandish.
SuperCamp also integrates the 8 Keys of Excellence with a positive learning environment, which creates a strong foundation for how people treat each other, view themselves, and decide how they are going to act in the world. Not only does it provide a moral compass, but it also assists students in finding out what they want out of college and life. Ambitious, universal college goals become their college goals, not someone else’s.
Students will learn to take advantage of every communication opportunity, and to follow their inner sense of who they are, their destiny and their dreams. SuperCamp graduate, Rachel Sylwestrzak, had this to say about her overall experience at a college prep camp: “Quantum U really was one of the best experiences of my life… Having attended Super Camp before, I especially enjoyed how ‘college- focused’ QU was. It really eased my fears about the transition between high school and college, and made me see that sometimes it’s better to step outside your comfort zone. I really liked how all the QU activities seemed age-appropriate, and how even the little ones had a tie in to how our lives would be when we entered college. Overall, it was an absolutely fantastic experience and one that I would recommend to any college student.
