Dance is good therapy especially for small children. It allows them to express themselves without being inhibited. This is important for a young child as they sometimes find trouble expressing themselves. Surprisingly enough even little children experience stress and can find dancing beneficial as a tension reliever.
So how exactly does dancing help children to express themselves better?
The first thing dancing helps anyone do is shed their inhibitions and to build their confidence. In short, it’s an age-old cure for shyness. As confidence is built, children learn about expressionism and can even use it as a form of communicating. Soon, it even becomes an outlet to help deal with problems.
They will feel more confident with dance lessons and be able to take that confidence to help them throughout life. Young children are sometimes shy and lack confidence. As your child progresses with their dance lessons they will be able to do more and more dance routines and their confidence will grow as they acquire new skills. Eventually through dance they will be less shy and be able to come out of their shell and be more open.
Your child will be able to express themselves creatively through dance. This form of creativity will give them a lot of satisfaction. When your child increases their creativity they will feel more fulfilled. This will unlock their inner self and they will be able to express themselves better.
For those children who don’t suffer from a lack of confidence, and there are a few of them out there, dancing can still be a great form of therapy.
Dancing helps to relieve stress, as well as being a very good form of exercise. Ballet is a particularly good form of dance for exercise and therapy; it’s very much disciplined and requires lots of concentration. Dancing can be either something you use to give yourself a hard workout or just something you use to occupy your mind.
Don’t think that young children do not experience stress or need ways of dealing with it. Tension and poor behavior are shown in a variety of ways, but providing a release for children is vitally important. Dancing is a perfect way to allow for the relief of this stress.
Finding the right school is an important task as not all dance schools are the same. Look for a school that has a good curriculum that balances out work and play. Kids really like to have fun while they learn. At the same time, too much learning will either result in a bored child or a child that is confused and even more stressed. Be sure that your child’s teacher understands this delicate balance and has the skills to handle manage it appropriately.
