How to Become A Rainmaker

Rain- Thats been the weather here in New York for what feels like aan eternity! Since when did Seattle and New York have a swap that I didn’t know of ?

Being that rain was the principal of discussion for the majority of us in this part of the States at the beginning of the summer, it does bring to mind a lesson on Branding I learned from one Dr. Ben Mack which happened last year.

Over the next few articles or so I will make an effort to reveal some of the major points of this presentation which was comprised of three primary sections: 1) How to Make the Lightning, 2) Keeping the Lightning Striking and 3) How to Bottle your Lightning.

In case your not acquainted who Bejamin Mack is, he is one of the chief authorities on Branding at present in the USA. He is considered legendary in certain Ad agency circles for this work. Over the years Ben has held tenure some of the most respected advertizing agencies aorund and was a Vice President for Brand strategy for a major corporation.

In a nut shell what that means is he was in charge of a budget of ” billion dollars (now thats massive amounts money)! To me that indicates someone who has some clout on Branding, do we see eye to eye? In addition to being a professional magician, Ben Mack has worked magic for most of his employers, and at age 19 was the receiver of the prestigious (if your into magic) Award of Merit given by the AMA.

For those alien to the concept of what a rainmaker is, a rainmaker is someone medicine man not withstanding who instead of insuring a good harvest for his people brings increased revenue to his business by the use of his or her political connections, ability to attract customer therfore making the people he works for money.

As an internet Marketer your chief duty is to “up sell” individuals on their perception of reality. In Ben Macks book “Think Two Products Ahead” he speaks of how effective branding only occurs when companies think two products ahead rather then thinking just for the moment and for them to assemble thriving affiliations with their customers through their Brand The section in the book where Ben talks about creating your Legend Platform is just fantastic!

Your “Brand” (the one called YOU!) is constructed around the idea of a “legend” or tale and somewhere down the road get stronger as days and weeks or even years go by. These tales are acceptable to be at odds to each other. So, if you had to single out what type of story you should use to allow your business shine like a diamond (you are reading articles like these to do so correct?) why not have them be legends. How else will you become “Legendary” in your chosen field without them?

Look out for the next article in the “Rainmaker and Branding” series coming soon to a blog, e-zine or website near you!
