If your intimidated by all teh technical stuff right now you can go with a free platform then transfer to your own hosting later after you have learned more about everything.

If you are planning on making money blogging, now you are ready to start creating your blog you will need a primary niche. Pick something you are passionate about and interested in. Hobbies are a great option to go with. Don’t base your blog around something you won’t be interested in writing about.

Okay, you have your blog and your topic. Now it’s time to start branding in the blogging world. IT generally takes about 3-6 months to achieve this. You should aim to post new blog posts to your blog at least three times per week, more if possible. People want fresh content to read at all times.
