Utah is a state of a little over two million seven hundred thousand people. It is nestled in the Wasatch mountain range. When one thinks of the state, the first thought that comes to mind is the Mormon Church or the great skiing. Beyond that, not a great deal is known about Utah. Nevertheless, many large companies are finding it an ideal place to set up shop.
For many years now, there has been a part of California that, due to the number of technological companies, has been called Silicon Valley. In that same way, Utah could be referred to as the Silicon Slopes. Just looking at a map of the companies in the area will show you how the name applies to the mountainous area that is hosting all these businesses.
There are some big time and long standing companies located there. One of the first companies in Utah that caught my eye is Novell, an industry giant that has offices throughout the world. That company has been around for many years and continues to develop new products. They currently make infrastructure software for the Open Enterprise and continue to develop new products that can help the business world.
Another important company in the state is Omniture, a software firm that has developed the industry standard for tracking website visitors. Many companies have used the company’s program to better understand their customers’ behavior and optimize their site accordingly.
There are also a number of other companies in Utah that are a number of big, famous companies closely tied to the computer industry. Apple, Microsoft, HP, and others have either set up shop in the state or are making plans to move there soon.
We cannot leave out the tourist industry when we think of companies in Utah. Utah is known for having some of the best ski slopes in the nation. The scenery is beautiful and attracts hikers and campers as well. There are many small towns with lodges and condo rentals meant just for the tourist trade, and they do quite well.
Utah is also a great choice for raising a family. The crime rate is comparatively low, and, thanks to the number of companies moving into the area, there is a pretty good job market. There are a lot of educational opportunities, tourist attractions, and growing industries. And when you want to visit your hometown, the Salt Lake City airport offers easy and convenient transportation anywhere you need to go. There are a lot of opportunities in Utah for companies both big and small, and more and more companies will continue to move into the state to take advantage of these new business opportunities.
Utah is becoming well known for being home to some great tech companies. Utah technology is headed up by Silicon Slopes, a collection of the important high tech companies in Utah.
