If your line of work involves writing articles, you’re one of many people in such a situation. While writing can be an extremely enjoyable and rewarding process, many are at a loss for what to write about.
Some people simply don’t know what to write about and their mind draws a blank when they’re called to the task. I know the frustrations about this, but there are ways around it.
Here are five tips that I’d like to share with you, all of which should aid you in your article writing efforts, regardless of your motivation.
If you map out the purpose of your article in advance, as opposed to simply writing what comes to mind, things will be easier. The best way for me to do this is to think of a subject, then basing my article around a list.
Telling a story may also be an effective means of writing articles. Don’t be shy about interjecting your own personal experiences, in addition to your personality. People love reading stories in general, and they’re generally more entertaining than articles that are purely factual. A little personality never hurts.
If I have a number of articles to churn out in one sitting, I’ll usually try to set short term goals. I’ll race against the clock in the hopes of beating the time I’ve allocated to the task. This keeps me focused with an end in sight.
I like to treat myself to little rewards when I’m done writing for the day. If I know that I have to write five articles in one sitting, I’ll take myself out for ice cream when I’m done, or I’ll take a break from my work to watch my favorite TV show.
My last suggestion may sound a little unconventional, but I can assure you that it’s had a major impact on my output levels. Work on your typing speeds, as faster typing will allow you to do more work in less time.
