People searching for stay at home jobs usually just want to trade their time for money and make some extra money for their efforts. This article will discuss why a lot of the data entry work at home jobs you find on the internet are usually not worth your time and the 3 reasons work from home data entry jobs should be avoided.
1. Jobs Aren’t What They Seem: Data Entry Jobs seem to be falsely advertised on the internet. More often than not, an online data entry job is actually something else. Unfortunately, many of these false opportunities lead the job seeker very far down a path to the point that they think, I found something I can actually do from home. But only after you have joined and started learning more about the “data entry job” do you realize that it is not all that it was advertised to be. In some cases, you may need to pay for things such as advertising with Google Adwords in order to get paid for your efforts doing the “data entry job.”
In the case of Google Adwords data entry, you are actually entering advertisements for some company. Then once you type the ads and post them to the search engine, you are the lucky risk taker who is required to pay per click. While sales may result, it is very possible that you will outspend your income, leading to a huge loss. The company is essentially moving their advertising risk onto the so called “data entry” help that they recruited you for. So be careful as this is a very risky business, especially if you don’t have any training, and don’t trust the training that the company may provide, because if their methods worked why would they be putting this off on you.
2. Extra Training Required: Some data entry typing jobs, such as legal and medical transcriptions, will require a lot of training because the product needs to be superior for obvious reasons. The training will cost you time and money. Also, once you learn all of the necessary terminology and jargon, many times they will require that you then venture out and pitch your new found skills to find a job for yourself in your local community.
While all of these things are possible, if you don’t have the money to spend in order to train for a job like this, you most likely will not be able to do them. The training for these jobs can be in the $1000 of dollars, whereas you could learn another skill using your computer and the internet that would only cost you $30/month for as long as you needed the education.
3. Require Out of Pocket Expenses: Overhead expenses, or out of pocket expenses are mandatory for the options mentioned above. In some cases you’d be spending money on advertising and in other cases for special training. While some startup costs are inevitable as you venture into starting your own business, these start up costs could end up being unrecoverable if you are unable to follow through with the advertising, or follow through with finding a job doing specialized transcription.
If you have to spend your own money to get a data entry job, some serious red flags start to come up. Learning and education are sometimes worth spending your own money to receive, but be sure to know the whole story. Know what the next step is after you are through with the training that is required. If you are required to go searching for a job after your trainings is complete, you might as well have just looked in the classified ads for a normal job listing. To make legitimate money online, data entry may not be the best choice as it may cost too much, whereas an internet business with low overhead expenses will have a much better chance of being successful.
In this article we looked at 3 reasons to stay away from online data entry. These offers are usually falsely advertised, require additional training and will want you to put some of your own money into them to make them work. A real job should only require you to receive an education for, this is the case with almost any job you do. Other than an education however you shouldn’t have to spend any of your own money so beware when you are considering data entry jobs from home.
Although data entry work may not be exactly what you were looking for in a stay at home job, there are many other ways to make some money from home.
