A CNA that works in a doctors office has a different job to do. They might be responsible for patient check in and out. In a nursing home CNAs also take vitals such as temperature and blood pressure but they are also required to do a lot of hands on patient care. They give baths, showers, bed baths and change the bed when it is needed. In the nursing home there is a great deal of patient interaction and care. You will need to help patients with skin care, report to the nurse any problems, and give the patients bed pans.

CNAs can also work privately. They can become home care assistants and work with people individually. Home health aids sometimes require another certification but most times do not. All of the duties you have in a nursing home or hospital can also be done at home. Some home health aids will run errands or do light cooking and cleaning as well.

Being a CNA takes compassion, a love for people, and patience. You can do well in this profession if you possess these characteristics. The CNA job description changes as the environment changes.
