It is very important that where the patient has some independence and ability to perform tasks that the certified nursing assistant ensures that the care given complements what can be done. To do otherwise would run the risk of the patient losing what skills that they do have. In the instance where they have strength in one side of their body, they should be encouraged to do what they can before the career completes the task.
